PSV Variable Vane Pumps

The Bosch Rexroth PSV Variable Vane Pumps are variable volume, pressure compensated vane pumps that convert mechanical energy into hydraulic energy. They work by using a rotating cartridge of vanes that are pushed out against a cam ring, creating chambers that draw in and discharge fluid. The key function is that the cam ring's position is shifted in response to system pressure, automatically varying the pump's displacement to match the flow rate to the circuit's demand. This pressure compensation feature allows the pump to reduce flow to nearly zero at the set maximum pressure, preventing wasted energy and heat. PSV pumps are available with various controls, including standard pressure compensators, load-sensing, and torque-limiting controls, and can operate up to 2000 PSI.
