It channels oil using spool type 31, which keeps pressure and port A closed while port B is open to tank, enabling controlled unloading in neutral. A spring-centered C arrangement returns the spool to center when the solenoid is de-energized. Control oil reaches the pilot stage through an external supply, and an internal drain ports the return flow without separate lines. At 210 bar the valve can pass 380 L/min (100 US gpm), while a recommended flow of 170 L/min (45 US gpm) helps keep pressure drop and oil temperature within efficient limits. Fluid cleanliness should not exceed ISO 4406 code 19/17/14 during high-pressure service to prevent wear on the precision lands. A maximum pilot pressure of 210 bar matches the main stage capacity so that both sections share consistent limits.
