The DG5S-8-2N-M-U-D5-30 is produced by Vickers as part of the DG5 Two-Stage Directional Valves series and is used to shift hydraulic flow in automated circuits. It attaches to manifolds through an ISO 4401-08 (NFPA D08) interface that aligns pressure, tank, and work ports for straightforward block mounting. The spool is type 2, which closes every line to the tank port when centered, and the no-spring detented arrangement keeps the element in its last shifted position without electrical power. Electrical actuation is handled by a solenoid fitted with an ISO 4400 coil connector and wound for 220 V AC 50 Hz or 240 V AC 60 Hz input, allowing direct connection to common control transformers. Pilot oil is taken internally from the pressure gallery, while an external drain line returns pilot flow to reservoir, isolating the pilot valve from back-pressure effects. The pilot stage can accept tank pressures up to 100 bar (1450 psi) without performance loss.
The main stage withstands a rated pressure of 210 bar (3000 psi), which also defines the maximum tank line pressure and the highest pilot supply pressure the assembly can accept. Flow capacity reaches 380 L/min (100 US gpm) at 210 bar without malfunction, although a recommended flow of 170 L/min (45 US gpm) is advised for continuous duty to limit pressure drop. The pressure port and the tank port each have a diameter of 23.00 mm (0.906 in), providing balanced passage areas for return and supply lines. A test port tapped .4375-20 UNF-2B gives technicians a convenient location to install gauges for circuit verification. These hydraulic limits and dimensional details define the valve’s suitability for medium-pressure industrial systems requiring reliable, two-stage directional control.
