The 4WRTE-42/M valve is produced by Bosch Rexroth within the 4WRTE Directional Control Valves series and meters hydraulic flow for closed-loop automation tasks. It runs on a nominal 24 V DC supply that may drop to 18 V DC or rise to 35 V DC without functional loss. Integrated OBE electronics accept a ±10 V command input, and the input stage offers 100 kΩ resistance to avoid loading the controller. Supply ripple must stay below 2.5 Vpp to prevent signal distortion. Continuous current consumption is limited to 1.6 A, helping manage cabinet thermal profiles. Hydraulic fluid cleanliness must reach ISO 4406 (c) 18/16/13 so the metering edges remain precise.
During rapid spool shifts the impulse current peaks at 2.7 A, and overall electrical demand does not exceed 72 VA. The coil is rated for 150 °C, supporting long duty cycles in warm manifolds. An IP65 housing protects internal parts from dust and low-pressure water, while the assembly withstands 15 g shocks lasting 11 ms. Spool position is tracked by an inductive sensor that supplies real-time feedback to the drive card. The design achieves an MTTFd of 150 years, meeting reliability targets for safety-related hydraulic systems.
