The OCW-5-2-F-30 is a water-type oil cooler produced by Vickers for the Vickers Hydraulic Accessories series, where it removes heat from hydraulic automation loops by transferring energy to a separate water circuit. Hydraulic fluid flows through the shell side, and water moves through the tube side, a configuration that pairs the designated shell side fluid with the specified tube side fluid to keep circuits isolated. A 1:1 oil-to-water flow ratio is maintained to stabilize temperature gradients across the exchanger. The shell is fabricated from steel to withstand mechanical stress, while the tubes are made of copper to improve thermal conductivity between the two media. Internal multiple fins on the shell side enlarge the wetted surface area for more effective heat exchange. A fixed tube bundle construction keeps internal components aligned and simplifies installation inside compact hydraulic power units.
The cooler measures 258.8 mm in overall length, which allows it to fit standard reservoir covers without extensive modification, and it weighs 3.2 kg so a single technician can handle it during service. Continuous operation is permitted up to 149 °C, establishing a clear thermal ceiling for high-duty oil circuits. The shell can sustain pressures to 34 bar, while the tubes are limited to 10 bar, matching common hydraulic and plant water supply ratings. A drain port threaded to .125 NPTF is provided to empty the shell side during maintenance or shutdown.
