The F3 CVI 40 D105V M 40 cartridge valve insert is produced by Vickers as part of the Vickers Hydraulic Accessories series. Designed for hydraulic automation manifolds, it modulates flow through its NG 40 cavity size, supporting large circuit demands. The directional insert uses a 1:1.05 area ratio so balancing forces are almost equal during shifting. This same 1:1.05 insert ratio minimizes pressure differential and promotes stable movement of the internal spool. In normal service the valve remains normally open, letting fluid pass with minimal restriction until a pilot signal closes it. An opening threshold of 1.65 bar (24 psi) establishes quick response without excessive pilot pressure. Continuous flow ratings reach 1700 L/min (450 US gpm), enabling high-capacity circuits such as press drives or accumulator charging. The assembly withstands working pressures up to 350 bar (5000 psi) to match modern high-pressure systems, and it fits manifolds machined to the ISO 7368 (DIN 24342) interface for straightforward installation.
A variable orifice plug can be installed to adjust metering characteristics when fine throttling is needed, allowing the insert to double as a damping element in servo loops. Viton (FKM) seals are supplied so the insert resists swelling when exposed to phosphate ester fluids, the specified compatible medium often chosen for fire-resistant circuits. Reliable function is maintained from −20 °C to 70 °C, a span that covers cold-start conditions in outdoor machinery and continuous duty inside warm plant enclosures. Cleanliness requirements are limited to an ISO 18/16/13 code, safeguarding internal surfaces from abrasive contamination that could erode the metering edges. Instrumentation is attached via an SAE gauge port thread, giving standard access for pressure checks during commissioning, troubleshooting, or routine preventive maintenance.
