The SM4-15(10)38-80/40-10 servo valve is manufactured by Vickers for the Servo Valves series and regulates hydraulic motion in automated equipment. Its two-stage construction amplifies pilot forces so the main spool can deliver a rated flow of 57 l/min to downstream actuators. A rated current of 40 mA drives the torque motor, while the 80 Ω coil resistance defines the command voltage required from the controller. The valve accepts supply pressures from 14 bar up to 210 bar, covering most industrial power units, and reacts to signal changes because the threshold is 0.5 % of rated current. Direct mounting is supported through the ISO 4401-05 interface, simplifying manifold design and reducing external piping.
This model is intended for petroleum oil and uses Buna-N seals to keep that fluid contained. System cleanliness must be held to code 15/13/10 so the spool lands remain free of abrasive debris. Continuous service is permitted at temperatures up to 135 °C without loss of function. Electrical connection is made through an MS-3106-14S-2S plug, providing a secure and polarized link to the drive electronics. Structural integrity is verified by a proof pressure of 150 % of maximum supply on the pressure port and 100 % on the return port, while the return gallery can withstand burst conditions up to 250 % of the same supply limit. These margins protect the housing when pressure spikes occur during rapid load changes.
