The 4WN10D3X/OF/12 spool valve is built by Bosch Rexroth as part of the WP Pneumatic Spool Valves series. It regulates direction and flow in hydraulic automation circuits where compact manifold mounting is preferred. The unit is sized for NG10 cavities, allowing it to fit directly into size 10 subplates without adapters. Its ISO 4401-05-04-0-05 porting pattern maintains interchangeability with standard hydraulic blocks. Four main ports provide supply, two working outputs, and a tank return, enabling typical A-B cylinder control. A maximum flow capacity of 160 l/min supports mid-range actuator speeds without excessive pressure loss. Ports A, B, and P withstand operating pressures up to 350 bar so the valve can handle high-power systems, while port T is limited to 210 bar to safeguard the return line. The pilot interface is a 7/16-20 UNF thread that accepts common hydraulic fittings, and the pilot stage tolerates pressures up to 10 bar to ensure positive spool shifting.

The valve operates in ambient temperatures up to 70 °C, which permits installation near warm machinery enclosures. Hydraulic fluid may reach 80 °C without degrading internal seals, supporting continuous service in demanding cycles. Because the component can be installed in any orientation, designers can position manifolds vertically or horizontally to suit available space. A built-in detent locks the spool after actuation so flow paths remain stable even if pilot pressure is removed, and the absence of a spring return prevents unintended centering. Cleanliness requirements of ISO 4406 20/18/15 limit particulate contamination, protecting the finely machined spool lands from wear. A pilot volume of 23.7 cm³ determines the amount of control oil needed for each shift, which helps size the pilot supply. With a mean time to dangerous failure of 150 years, the device offers long functional life for critical automation duty.
