The 4WHD10EA3X/12 directional spool valve is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth for the WHD Directional Spool Valves series. It routes pressure and tank lines for hydraulic automation tasks and accepts mounting to manifolds that follow the ISO 4401-05-04-0-05 pattern. The nominal size 10 flow paths are switched by a 5.5 mm spool stroke, and a spring return recenters the spool when pilot pressure is vented. With an internal control volume of 3.83 cm³, the pilot circuit only needs moderate oil for each shift. Operation begins at 10 bar pilot pressure and remains permissible up to 100 bar, giving a wide control margin. During assembly, the body must be fastened with screws tightened to 9 Nm to secure the seals and prevent distortion. The valve can be installed in any orientation.
The valve carries hydraulic flow rates up to 120 l/min, supporting cylinders and motors that demand rapid oil exchange. Working pressure at the P, A, and B ports reaches 315 bar, whereas the T port rating is 160 bar to protect return plumbing. When fluid temperatures rise between 80 °C and 170 °C, all ports are limited to 100 bar so sealing materials remain within their stress limits. Compatible media are mineral oils of the HL or HLP category, and system cleanliness must meet ISO 4406 code 20/18/15 to avoid spool sticking. A port O-ring size of 12 × 2 mm matches the manifold grooves for reliable sealing during stack installation.
