The 4WHD10C3X/12 directional spool valve is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth as part of the WHD Directional Spool Valves series and directs pressurized fluid in hydraulic automation systems. A spool stroke of 5.5 mm establishes the full port opening, while an internal control volume of 3.83 cm³ determines the pilot oil that must be displaced for each shift. The valve tolerates main line pressures up to 315 bar so high-force cylinders can be driven without external reducers. A maximum flow rate of 120 l/min lets the unit feed medium-size actuators at typical machine speeds. It is designed for mineral oil classified as HL or HLP, and a minimum oil viscosity of 2.8 mm²/s maintains adequate film strength during continuous duty.
Oil temperature limits from −20 °C to +80 °C allow cold starts and sustained service near standard reservoir ratings. Viscosity may rise to 500 mm²/s during low-temperature operation without hindering spool movement. Pilot pressure must stay between 10 and 100 bar so the control stage can shift the main spool reliably and avoid internal leakage. Return port pressure is permitted up to 160 bar, enabling the valve to operate in circuits with back-pressure or partial closed-loop configurations. A fastening torque of 9 Nm secures the housing to the subplate, ensuring seal compression and preventing joint loosening under vibration.
