Electro-hydraulic actuation shifts the NG32 spool when the pilot stage is energized, allowing system designers to handle up to 1100 l/min through the main galleries. The spool conforms to symbol E so the flow paths follow a specific crossover pattern during switching. A spring-centered return repositions the spool to neutral when the pilot signal is removed, simplifying fail-safe design. External pilot oil enters through port X while the return is directed separately through port Y, preventing pilot oil from mixing with the power flow. The housing withstands a continuous operating pressure of 350 bar, giving the unit the strength needed for high-duty circuits.
For reliable piloting the external control circuit must provide at least 8.5 bar and can rise to 250 bar without damaging the pilot stage. Hydraulic fluid may be as cold as −20 °C or as warm as 80 °C, and viscosity can range from 2.8 mm²/s to 500 mm²/s, so the valve covers start-up and high-load conditions. Y-port back-pressure is limited to 160 bar to protect the drain passages in the cover. Contamination control is important; therefore the permissible cleanliness level is ISO 4406 (c) 20/18/15 to keep the spool lands free of abrasive particles. These limits ensure consistent switching performance and long service life in hydraulic systems that rely on rapid, high-flow directional control.
