The 4WEH16HD7X/ET directional valve is part of the WEH Directional Spool Valves series from Bosch Rexroth and serves as a hydraulic switching element in automated machinery. It is built in nominal size 16, allowing flow paths scaled for medium-frame blocks, and the spool is arranged in a 4-way configuration to direct pressure, tank, and two work ports. Port interfaces follow the ISO 4401-07-07-0-05 pattern so the unit mounts on standardized manifolds without adapters. Internal pilot supply is taken from port P in the ET version, while the pilot oil is returned internally to port T to simplify external piping. The design supports a maximum flow of 300 l/min and withstands up to 350 bar at ports P, A, and B. System oil must meet cleanliness class ISO 4406 20/18/15 to maintain reliable spool movement.
For stable actuation, the pilot passages tolerate up to 250 bar and need no more than 14 bar to shift the two-stage H spool. Port T may carry back-pressure up to 250 bar without jeopardizing internal leakage paths. The pilot stage incorporates a D3 pressure-reducing valve to moderate control pressure, and flow is metered through a 1.0 mm throttle insert that damps signal spikes. Installation requires a horizontal orientation to keep the wet pilot chambers fully primed, and each M10 mounting screw must be tightened to 58 Nm to prevent gasket extrusion. When the ET variant is used, ports X and Y remain closed so external drain lines are unnecessary, which further shortens assembly time and reduces manifold drilling.
