The 4WEH16H7X/6EG12N9TDA directional spool valve is produced by Bosch Rexroth in the WEH Directional Spool Valves series for routing pressure and return lines in hydraulic automation. Its NG16 size establishes the flow capacity suitable for medium-frame manifolds, while the ISO 4401-07-07-0-05 porting pattern lets the valve mount to standard subplates without adapter blocks. A 12 V DC coil energizes the solenoid so electrical controllers can shift the spool directly. Pilot oil is supplied externally through the X port, allowing the main ports to stay unloaded during standby, and it returns internally to the T port so extra drain plumbing is unnecessary. A pilot flow of 35 l/min achieves the shortest switch time, helping actuators reach target positions quickly. The concealed manual override permits local spool actuation during commissioning yet remains recessed to prevent accidental operation. A viscosity range of 2.8 to 500 mm²/s enables the valve to work with thin startup oils and thicker high-temperature fluids in the same circuit.
The valve withstands 280 bar on ports P, A, and B, which supports high-pressure cylinders, while ports t and an external Y line tolerate up to 250 bar to protect return passages. Pilot circuits may also be pressurized to 250 bar, giving designers freedom to route pilot supply from the main high-pressure line. Nitrile-sealed versions tolerate ambient temperatures from −20 to +50 °C, and fluorocarbon-sealed units operate between −15 and +50 °C, so cabinet cooling is not required in most plants. Corresponding hydraulic fluid temperature limits reach −20 to +80 °C with nitrile seals and −15 to +80 °C with fluorocarbon seals, covering cold starts and prolonged high-load duty. The cleanliness class of ISO 4406 20/18/15 restricts particle contamination, reducing spool wear and extending service intervals.
